About

Romain Dumesnil, lives and works between France and Brazil where he previously studied at the Parque lage School of Visual Arts (EAV Parque Lage, Rio de Janeiro). He co-founded the independent art space Átomos in Rio de Janeiro in 2015.

Dumesnil’s sculptures paintings, installations and videos explore the continuum of tangible materialities and invisible elementary forces that compose the world.
Moving between the micro and the macro, Dumesnil blends an interest for the accidental and a meticulous preocupation for the form. For him, his works are at the same time catalysts and revealing agents, which are transformed by and simultaneously influence the reality around them.

His past solo exhibitions include projects presented at the Ema Klabin Foundation (São Paulo, Brazil), Zip’up project Zipper Gallery (São Paulo, Brazil), 6B (Paris, France), and Temiorae Art Center (Daejon, South Korea).

Romain Dumesnil has also participated in multiple group shows and residencies at institutions and galleries such as Pivô (São Paulo, BR), Villa Arson (Nice, FR), Iberê Camargo Foundation (Porto Alegre, BR), Cité Internationale des Arts (Paris, FR), Gentil Carioca Gallery (Rio de Janeiro, BR), Oscar Niemeyer Museum of Contemporary Art (Curitiba, BR), Fondation Fiminco (Paris, FR), Galerie de la SCEP. (Marseille, FR).
